Farmers Market Update, 7.8.24

We hope everyone enjoyed a day to relax, grill, enjoy some fireworks, and eat delicious foods last week. The Farmer’s Market was booming with people getting everything they needed for the 4th. First Fruits Sweet Corn was sold out by 10:30am. Nothing better than a good corn on the cob on the grill. They will only be around for a couple more weeks, so get some fresh corn while you can. For them, and many other farms, the heat during the summer is a tough battle to navigate. While the heat increases the growth and sweetness of many fruits and vegetables, too much of it and they start to overheat and wilt. That being said, there are plentiful amounts of products flourishing and blessing us with their production.

Stone fruit isn’t going anywhere. Freestone Yellow peaches from Regier are coming in by the boat load. White peaches are having a slow start but put in your orders early and we can get you the best of the best. Pluots are transitioning varieties. While Flavor Rosa’s are out, Ebony Rose and Dapple Dandy are in. The Ebony Rose pluots have a deep crimson color from skin to flesh and are the perfect combination of sweet and tart. The Dapple Dandy’s are green to purple hued little balls of sweetness. Tenerelli is done with Cherries, but there Pluots and Peaches are being picked this weekend and will be ready to enjoy by next week. I swear my blood sugar goes up in the summer because of Tenerelli, and I’m not mad about it. Orange flesh Ambrosia Melons from Munak, and the Sugar Cude and Cavaillon from Weiser. Green flesh Rocky Sweet Melons and Arava from Weiser. Watermelon by the truck load. There isn’t a delicious Melon not around. Sungold tomatoes are finally at a level of production where we can stock for whenever you need. Heirloom Tomatoes of all kinds of different colors, shapes, and sizes from Munak, Tutti Frutti, and Valdivia make any dish look and taste amazing. Peppers are slowly starting to make their way into the Market. Italian Long Sweet Peppers from Fresno Evergreen, Nardello Peppers from Her Produce, and Shishito Peppers from Flora Bella. Let us know what you need.

We love sharing and supplying you with all that the market has to offer. Please click on our availability list, or if you have any questions or want to talk about what our farmers market program has to offer, please reach out and send us an email. From all of us here at Worldwide Produce, we hope you had a lovely and safe 4th of July Week.
