Farmers Market Update, 6.20.24

June 20th!  The Summer Solstice! Summer is here!!!

What a glorious time to be a lover of the best fresh and local produce that Southern California has to offer!  Tomatoes and stone fruit are here, and while my back is tired from moving all of the boxes yesterday, my tummy is full and my smile is big.  Munak farms returned this week with limited numbers but promises of future greatness.  Their sungolds are the best right now, but please get those orders in early as their volume is not at peak season yet.  Tutti-Frutti also has their beautiful heirloom tomatoes.  This was likely the last week of the English peas, so it’s time for some menu changes.  Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with all of the amazing fruits and vegetables showering the tables at the Santa Monica Farmers Market.

Soon we will have the beautiful and varied in-pod beans from 2 Peas in a Pod so get to planning, but don’t forget about their Ollalie and Boysenberries in the meantime.   Purslane at Flora Bella will feed you those omega-3’s and let you put succulents on the plate.  Pluots and plums at both Scott’s Farm and Juicy Fruit Farm are dark, rich and really good.  Frecker farms organic tables are filled with Squash blossoms, strawberries, the best rainbow carrots and much more. I mentioned it last week, but the Fuerte Avocado’s at Schaner Farms are hands-down the best Avocado’s around.  Mixed Summer Squash varietals are prevalent everywhere, and we’re stocking a gorgeous blend currently.  Both Weiser and Munak farms have harvested melons.  With several varietals to choose from we are here to help you narrow it down.

With summer officially upon us, it’s time to change up those menus and dive deep into the Farmers Market Availability.  Reach out with any questions comments, or desires to talk about everything we can offer with our Farmers Market Program.  We love what we do, and we love hearing from you.  Have a great rest of your day.
