Hello to all the Farmers Market Faithful!
Celebrate Stone Fruit Season and Summer’s Bounty
Hello to all our Farmers Market Faithful! Come and bask in the glory of stone fruit season and revel in the new vegetation sprouting up at the Santa Monica Farmers Market! As Mother Nature brings us warmer weather, we’re thrilled to present an array of fresh produce that will delight even the shyest of vegetable consumers.
Highlighted Produce of the Week
Peaches from Regier Farms: These peaches are so delicious, they might not even make it into your recipes. Perfect for an upside-down cake or simply snacking on their own.
Apricots from Tenerelli Farms: A new addition this week, these apricots are a must-try. Their flavor is outstanding, making them a top pick for our stock.
Flavorosa Pluots from Scott’s Farm: Enjoy the deep red flesh and incredible taste of these pluots.
Champagne Coral Cherries from Murray Family Farms: Currently the best cherries at the market, these are not to be missed!
Summer Squash Mix from Her Produce Farm: Pristine and perfect for any kitchen, this mix is a summer staple.
Figs: Turkey and black mission varieties are both available and delicious!
New Arrivals to the Farmer’s Market
From Fresno Evergreen: Purple and yellow bell peppers, long beans, and bitter melons are now in stock. Cherry tomatoes and sungolds are still limited but making appearances at several tables.
Heirloom Tomatoes from Tutti-Frutti Farms: The race is on for these prized tomatoes, with more farms like Munak Farms soon to join the fray.
Avocados from Schaner Farms: The “Fuerte” variety is large, creamy, and simply the best!
Berries from 2 Peas in a Pod: While they’re done with peas, they now offer ollalie and boysenberries.
Saying Goodbye
With all this excitement, it’s tough to say goodbye to some of our seasonal friends:
- English Peas: Only available for another week or two.
- Arugula from Flora Bella Farms: Production has halted due to the heat.
- Bloomsdale Spinach: Currently challenged by squirrels and heat, making it a delicate crop.
