What’s Fresh This Week – May 23rd
Simply the best! I challenge anyone to find a better Farmers Market anywhere in the world. Stone fruit that destroys the competition. Summer squash that impresses the eyes as well as the palate. Edible flowers that you just want to gaze upon rather than eat. The nicest farmers, the best weather, and the most opportunities to expand your menu and delight your customers. We are fortunate that we have it all right here in the sprawling Metropolis that is Los Angeles.
Apricots and apriums are here. Murray Family Farms even has beautiful green Persian Plums right now. Peaches and Nectarines keep getting better. Just around the corner, the horde of plums and pluots awaits. Soon, my friends, very soon. Cherries continue to impress as the Rainier’s get better and the rich dark red varieties get sweeter.
Not to be outdone, the alliums are still knocking it out of the park with their spring fits. The Green garlic and spring onions at Schaner Farms are fragrant and delicious. The torpedo onions at Tutti Frutti Farms are spectacular. We also are bringing in beautiful Bloomsdale Spinach from Weiser Family Farms where we also find the Laker Baker Potatoes, and the Russian Banana Fingerlings. We are and probably always will be stocking the Salanova Mixed Lettuces from The Garden Of because they’re the best!
Whatever you’re looking for, we are here to help you bring it home. Drop us a line and begin your adventure into the wonderful world that is the Santa Monica Farmers Market. We love what we do, and we love helping you do what you love. Have a great rest of your day!
