California Bing and Rainier Cherries, Peaches, White Peaches, Nectarines, White Nectarines, Plums and Pluots are all in; sizing is good and sugar content is excellent; now is the time to step in...


Tomato Report: Prices are firming up as Nogales winds down; quality is still very good. Roma tomatoes are firming up as well this week. Grape Tomatoes: Supply is still plentiful and prices are low. Cherry Tomatoes: The market continue to be short, prices remain strong. Heirloom Tomatoes: Baja Growers are finishing up and local growers are just starting; supplies are short and prices are strong. Yellow tomatoes are very short; prices are up....


Lettuce Report:
The market remains flat, growers are long on product; prices remain low and quality is excellent. No change in Spinach and Romaine Hearts...


Berry News: Strawberries: Quality is good and berry size is very large; prices are coming down; Long Stem strawberry quality is excellent, prices are down. Raspberries prices are down; quality is good. Blackberries are good; prices remain low. Blueberries quality remains very good; prices remain low; we are moving into the larger 6 oz. basket.....

Fruit Report: Avocados: Prices are firm and supplies and light. Citrus: Grapefruit prices are unchanged; No changes to report in the Lemon market; Limes are low on all sizes. California Valencia’s is all we have available; sugar is much improved from the first pick. Figs: The desert is beginning to yield good supplies of brown Turkish and black Mission figs; quality is good. Grapes: Chilean grapes are done; new crop California Red, Black and Green seedless are very good; green and black remain high priced but flames are dropping. Melons: Desert Cantaloupes are here; prices are off and quality is improved; Honeydew has excellent sugar; prices are low. Mixed melons have started including Canary, Casaba, Crenshaw, Galia, Santa Claus, Sharlyn, and Tuscan Sweet. Watermelon should come off after the end of the Memorial Day ads; we now have good supplies of Petites too.....

Vegetable Report: Artichokes: Loose chokes are in short supply; prices are unchanged. Asparagus: Supplies are still good; prices are off moderately. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is very good and prices are down. Broccoli & Cauliflower: Quality is good; export demand is cleaning up excess inventory, prices are up. Celery: Oxnard is heavy; prices are low. Cabbage: No change. Carrots: Growers are still short in California; prices remain strong. Corn: Coachella is shipping white corn; quality is very good. Cucumbers: Supply remains long and prices are steady. Eggplant: Desert Globe Eggplant is good; prices are unchanged. Onions: The market is unchanged. Peppers: Green bells are up; Red and Gold prices are unchanged. Potatoes: California and Arizona Red Rose potatoes are very nice; White Rose potatoes are coming out of the California desert; prices are down. Zucchini: Coachella and Mexico are both shipping, prices are low. Coachella Straightneck good; Gold Zucchini is short and quality is not very good...

As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
