Report:
California and Baja markets are steady. East coast supplies are limited due to Hurricane Irene. All tomatoes are good quality. Round: at the lowest price point of the season! Roma: prices are coming way down this month and availability is plentiful. Cherry: supplies are steady. |

 Lettuce
Report: Iceberg: Supplies and quality are good but demand has increased for Labor Day shipments so stock up! Romaine: Prices are HIGH with slight quality defects (fringe burn). Romaine Hearts: Steady availability and prices are firm. Expect good quality. Green, Red and Butter Leaf: Supplies are light on Red and Green Leaf this week. Butter supplies are moderate but expect a lighter supply in the upcoming weeks.

 Berry
News:
Blackberries: There have been some quality issues with steady harvest numbers. Blueberries: Prices are lower due to a harvest pick up. Raspberries: Good quality and stable prices but will increase into next month because of a short harvest. Strawberries: The smaller crop of berries will extend into next month before the shift to southern California harvests. Prices are still high and quality will improve as we transition into the fall season.

 Fruit
Report: Apples: Pricing is high with excellent quality on Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith coming out of California. Oranges: Valencia’s are in plentiful supply. California navel crop will be smaller than last year’s crop. Expecting larger than average size. Lemons: Tight availability on the larger sized lemons with high prices and great quality. Grapefruit: the California summer grapefruit season is in full swing! Prices will remain high till the Florida crops have been harvested. Great quality. Pineapples: Tight availability with a 20% reduction in the new crop harvest. Prices are expected to be moderate to high. Cantaloupes: Expect steady supplies for the next 2 weeks before the seasonal decrease. Prices are steady to lower. Honeydew: Plentiful supplies on all sizes. Prices are steady. Grapes: Peak of the grape season is upon us! Demand is looking good out of California. |
 Vegetable
Report: HotHouse Cucumbers: Supplies are extremely short till next week. Some product is expected to be in on Friday out of Canada. Broccoli: Supplies are on the increase. Firm prices and good quality. Cauliflower: Good Supplies, expect market to stay steady. Celery: Production out of Salinas/Oxnard is steady with good availability. Prices are good. Artichokes: 24’s and 36’s are in good supply. Quality is good and prices are steady. Asparagus: With a gap in production accruing in Mexico prices are currently on the higher side till late September. Quality is good. Carrots: Good supplies. Great quality with moderate pricing. Kale: Very good quality and supplies. Prices are steady. Cilantro: Steady supplies with very good quality. Garlic: The California harvest has made all sizes available with good quality. Squash: Prices have improved this week. Good availability and volume out of most areas. Zucchini: Tight supplies and high prices. Spring Mix: Ample availability and excellent quality. Russet Potatoes: New crop of the Norkotah variety are now available but with limited supplies, prices remain high. Red and Green Bell Peppers: Ample availability out of the inland coastal valleys of central California. Also the harvest out of Michigan is in full swing! Prices are average with great quality. Onions: Great availability on Red onions. Good supply on yellow and a fair supply on white coming out of Colorado, Washington and California. |
