Report:
California markets are steady. Prices are higher on larger size profile. Heirloom Mix tomatoes are higher in price. California season is off to a slow start. Look for improving quality in the next few weeks. Grape, Cherry and Red Cluster all have excellent availability and pricing. |

 Lettuce
Report: Iceberg: Expect lighter supplies and higher prices this week. Romaine: Expect lighter supply buy the end of the week. Quality remains very good. Romaine Hearts: Supplies will be average this week. The overall market continues to stay steady. The quality is good. There are some issues with fringe burn due to fog in the northern part of the valley and warm temperatures with wind in the southern part. Green, Red and Butter Leaf: Supplies are expected to be normal this week on Green Leaf. Quality will be better than last week. Product will return to normal sizing. Red Leaf will be very light supplied. Butter Leaf will be plentiful.

 Berry
News:
Blackberries: Supplies are plentiful and prices are stable. Blueberries and Raspberries are in good supply and prices are stable for both. Strawberries: Crop has transitioned from Watsonville to Oxnard, Ca. Recent cooler weather has resulted in smaller berries. With this week’s upcoming heat wave and a warmer outlook for the foreseeable future, look for improving quality on Strawberries and Stem Berries.

 Fruit
Report: Lemons out of California are increasing dramatically in price again. Product is becoming short. Look for higher prices until Chilean crop comes in. All varieties of Navel oranges have good availability out of California but prices are moving higher. We have Californian Valencia’s. They are cutting beautifully. Limes out of Mexico are going Loco!! Prices are way up. Avocados: Californian Avocados are short expect high prices. Honeydew 9ct and Cantaloupe 15’s are the better priced Melons. Plums and Peaches out of California are here. White Nectarines are also a good choice. Pineapples are in short supply. Prices are still high. Anjou Pears are short. We are currently out of stock. Bartlett’s are an excellent alternative. There are plenty available. |
 Vegetable
Report: Celery: Good supplies. Lower prices on larger sizes. Quality good and prices are steady. Bell Peppers: Supplies are stable; size is good. Green Peppers: are a good choice and price is very good. Yellow Peppers: are slightly higher. Red Peppers: have come way down. Look for great pricing! Cauliflower: Quality and supplies are good. Weather has been great producing high volumes. Pricing is steady. Broccoli: Volumes are picking up and quality is good. Eggplant: Supplies are short and prices are moving higher. Quality is good. Yukon Gold Potatoes: Good Availability out of Washington. Red and White Potatoes: Good availability. Great new crops coming out of Stockton, Ca. Onions: Prices are steady. Quality is good as well as supply. Artichokes: Coastal Globe is in production. Quality is good. While prices have been steady for two weeks they are still expensive. Carrots: Pricing is higher. Growers are reporting good sizing and availability. Squash: excellent quality available on Butternut, Acorn, Kabocha and Spaghetti Squash. Look for special pricing on this week’s hot sheet! |
