Tomato
Report: Prices are stable on Round Tomatoes. They are coming out of both California and Florida, expect fair inventory. Good news for the 5x5 and 5x6 Round Tomatoes; Expect good quality but possible higher prices. Larger tomatoes have tighter inventory and prices have gone up slightly. Cherry tomatoes are in better supply and prices are going down. Grape tomatoes are coming out of Mexico. They are in much better supply and dropping in price. Yellow and Red Teardrop tomatoes have better quality; however, they are still higher priced. Roma tomatoes have good quality. Supply has become better and the price has come down. Heirloom tomatoes out of Mexico are starting to come down in price; quality is good. |

Lettuce
Report: Romaine Lettuce has now transitioned to Salinas, California. Overall quality has improved. Yields/weights may go temporarily lower due to the transitional crop. Weather may influence inventory. Expect less quality issues as the season moves forward. Iceberg Lettuce is in good supply out of Salinas. Quality is fair, head sizes are smaller and weights may be on the lighter side. Expect some quality issues like minor Mildew and insect damage. Leaf lettuce supplies are coming out of Salinas. Supplies are better and prices are fair. Look for improvement as the season progresses.

Berry
News: Strawberries are coming out of California. Crops are being picked out of Oxnard, Watsonville and Santa Maria. Colder and wet weather may lead to higher pricing. Quality remains good. Blueberries are coming out of California and Florida. Quality and supply are good; prices have started to fall. Blackberries are coming out of Mexico. Quality and supplies are good; price has come down. Raspberries are coming from Oxnard, California. Raspberry quality remains good, demand is still high; prices have dropped. Weather may slow picking. The best choice of all the berries for quality and price are Blackberries. |
Fruit
Report: Lemons are available out of California and prices are slightly increasing. This may be due to increased fuel prices as the crop moved to Northern California. We continue to have good inventory. All varieties of Navel oranges have good availability out of California. 88ct. choice Oranges are slightly higher.113ct. Valencia's out of Texas are finished. Grapefruit is out of California and Texas. Quality is good but prices are higher. Limes are coming out of both California and Mexico. Mexican Limes have much better quality. Prices have come down then up slightly again on the 200 and 230 count. Avocados: We are carrying Californian Avocados. Californian Avocados enjoy high quality, good oil content and improved ripeness. Prices are stable. Honeydew has improved in quality. Sugar content is higher and price has lowered. Cantaloupe is also a good choice with improved sugar content. Red Seedless Watermelon has good quality, supply and price. White Peaches out of California just starting. Nectarines are a better choice. Stone fruit is still smaller but improving. California starting with green grapes; size is small quality is improving. |
Vegetable
Report: Asparagus: Quality is good but prices are higher. Supplies are coming from California and Peru. Bell Pepper supplies are better; size is improving. Green Peppers are the best choice. Red Peppers are bit more expensive, but prices have come down. Supplies are coming out of the Coachella Valley. Cauliflower: Expect better supplies and lower prices. Broccoli has good quality but price has moved up. Eggplant has come down in price dramatically. Expect excellent supply and price. Potatoes: Large size profile Potatoes are shorter in supply only storage crop remain. Red and Yukon have gone up as well. Supply is now coming out of Florida. Purple A and B are in very short supply. Onions have good availability. Prices are very good. Red Jumbo Onions have great quality and price. Yellow and White Corn is now available out of California. Quality and prices are much better. Artichokes have better supply and quality; prices have lowered. Keep an eye on Italian Parsley. Product is in short supply; price is higher. French Beans are coming out of Mexico. Expect good availability and price. Blue Lake Beans are coming out of California. Quality is very good; price is much better. BB Squash out of Mexico is in good supply. Quality and price are good. |
