Specialty: Baby Veggies: Baby Squashes, French Beans, and Yellow Wax are plentiful and prices are low. Rambutan, Lychee Nuts, Star Fruit, and Pomegranates are in; Fresh Italian Chestnuts will be late this year; look for them in October...…


Stone Fruit: Quality of stone fruit is waning; Peaches are a little mealy and prices are up some; Nectarines and Plums are faring much better; Dapple Dandy and Golden Globes are still good…….


Tomato Report: The market is in steady; quality is good and prices are low; Roma tomato quality is outrageously good; Mix heirloom tomatoes remain in good supply and pricing remains low; red grape, yellow grape, sweet 100 cherry tomatoes; and clusters are all in good supply……

Lettuce Report: Growers are still short and Iceberg prices remain strong; Romaine Hearts are heading back up a notch as suppliers struggle to meet demand; Greenleaf, Redleaf, Romaine, and Boston are also firm.....


Berry News: Strawberries; Quality is still a problem and prices remain firm; there will not be much change until Oxnard starts in a week or two; Blackberries and Blueberries are very short too; Raspberries are in better shape; quality is good and prices are stable.…

Fruit Report: Avocados: Availability of California fruit lighter and prices are strong. Bananas: Prices are unchanged. Citrus: California Marsh Ruby is the predominant variety. California Valencia Orange quality is good and prices are steady. Lemons are unchanged. Limes are easing up. Grapes: Quality is excellent and prices are low. New Zealand Green and Gold Kiwis are very short; prices are firm. Cantaloupes; Prices went up and leveled off; quality of the Westside district remains excellent. Honeydew quality very good and pricing is unchanged. Mixed Melons are finishing up; there are still a few Orange Dews, Crenshaw, Tuscan, Santa Claus, and Galia’s; Watermelon prices are up some. Maui and Costa Rican Pineapples are good; volume is light and prices are strong....

Vegetable Report: Artichokes: Supplies are good and prices are low. Asparagus: Prices are low; both Peru and Mexico are shipping. Blue Lake Beans: Quality is good and prices are low. Broccoli is up and Cauliflower is steady. Brussels Sprout: Supply is good; prices are low. Celery: Prices are perking up on our standard 2 dozen pack size. Cabbage: Green is up; red is unchanged. Carrots: Prices are steady. Cilantro is suffering from the heat; quality is fair and prices are up. Cucumbers: Availability and quality is very good but prices have definitely taken a turn for the worse; Hothouse Cucumbers are unchanged. Corn: Corn is good; prices remain low. Eggplant: Globe eggplants are unchanged; Japanese, Italian, and Chinese Eggplants are very good too. Mushrooms: Oregon Wild Mushroom varieties include Blue Foot, Lobster, Chanterelle, and Maitake. Onions: Brown, red, and white onions prices are stronger. Peppers: Green, Red, and Gold bells are unchanged this week; quality is good and prices are low. Potatoes are beginning to come off some but overall they remain quite high. Zucchini quality is very good; quality is good and prices are steady. Gold Zucchini is much the same; quality is good and prices are unchanged...


As with all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change daily . . .
