Report: Heat damage will be popping up and prices will be heading up; quality on spinach will also be affected adversely.... |
Berry
News: Strawberries; Berries are literally melting in the fields; prices are on the rise. Blackberries and Raspberries are in the same situation; quality will be the issue. Blueberries are a little more heat resistant; quality remains very good… |

Report: Artichokes: Supplies remain short, prices are firm. Asparagus: Prices are moving back up on all sizes. Blue Lake Beans: Fresno is the place to be; quality is good. Broccoli and Cauliflower pricing will firm up as the week progresses. Brussels Sprout: Supply remains light; prices are high. Celery: Prices are lower but the quality is only fair due to heat damage. Cabbage: Green is up, Red is lower. Carrots: Prices are steady. Cucumbers: Prices are stronger; Hothouse cucumbers are up also. Corn: Northern Corn is finishing up as growers are transitioning north; prices are up. Eggplant: Coachella eggplants are still available but Fresno is the kind to buy; color is darker and fruit is healthier. Supplies of Japanese and Chinese are very nice too. Onions: Brown, red, and white onions prices are unchanged. Peppers: Heat is causing quality concerns on peppers; all colors are much stronger in price this week. Zucchini is one of the few items that do well in the heat; growers have lots of product available all at once and prices are on the floor. Gold Zucchini and Yellow Squash are unchanged not in the same boat; quality is suffering and prices are firming up... |
As with
all fresh fruits and vegetables, the market could change
