Specialty: Baby Veggies: Prices on Baby Squashes are still low; French and Yellow Wax Beans are on the high side but availability is still good. Peeled Baby Carrots with tops are coming up short with some growers; look for higher pricing…


Stone Fruit: Chilean Peaches, White Peaches, Nectarines, White Nectarines, Saturn Peaches, Donut Nectarines, Plums and Apricots are all still good. Bing and Rainier Cherries quality is diminishing; don’t get too far ahead….


Tomato Report: Quality of two Layer, Loose, Cherry, Teardrop, Grape, and Roma Tomatoes is excellent and prices are inexplicably low; shippers in Nogales are quoting much higher fobs which will translate into higher prices for us by Friday. Cluster Tomatoes prices are off....

Lettuce Report: Iceberg and leaf prices remain low. Spinach quality is good; prices are off; Mescaline, Baby Spinach and Baby Arrugula are out of the woods; supply is good and prices have returned to normal....


Berry News: Strawberries; quality is goodand prices are unchanged; expect lower prices once we get past Valentines Day. Long Stem Strawberries are in good shape; take advantage of this week’s special pricing. Raspberries remain high priced for good ones; there are cheaper Chilean raspberries available but the quality is just not there. Blackberries prices have come off. Blueberries are still the best alternative; quality is good and prices are low…

Fruit Report: Apples and Pears: Supply and quality remain good. Avocados: Availability of California fruit is; prices are unchanged. Bananas: South American growers are all short on fruit; prices are up. Citrus: Texas Grapefruit and Valencia oranges are unchanged; Lemon prices are unchanged; Limes prices are up; California Navel oranges prices remain low. Blood Oranges are in good supply; prices are low. Grapes: Black, Green, and Red Grape quality is very good; prices are down. Cantaloupes and Honeydews are better this week; quality is improving and prices are off. Maui pineapples are much improved in quality; prices are unchanged. We also have good South American pineapples available too....

Vegetable Report: Artichokes: No changes in supplies or quality; loose chokes remain extremely short. Asparagus: No changes; the grass is very good; prices are low. Blue Lake Beans: Quality remains good; prices are down; Chinese Long Beans are in better shape; prices are down. Broccoli and Cauliflower: No changes; supply is good and prices are low. Brussels Sprout: Growers are beginning to gap; prices are on the rise. Celery: availability is good; prices are low. Cabbage: Prices are unchanged. Carrots: Prices are unchanged. Cucumbers: Supplies are good and prices unchanged; we are expecting price raises by the weekend; Hothouse cucumbers remain low. Eggplant: Globe prices are unchanged; Japanese Eggplant is still short; prices are strong. Onions: Brown, red, and white onions prices are low. Peppers: Green, Red, and Gold Bells are all unchanged but higher fobs in Nogales will translate into higher prices in LA by the weekend. Straightneck, Green and Gold Zucchini: No changes in pricing but again we are forecasting higher prices by the weekend...
